HANGZHOU and Hamamatsu City of Shizuoka Prefecture in Japan signed a friendship city agreement at the side of Hamanako Lake on Friday.
Both sides will carry out cooperation and exchanges in the fields of economy, travel, culture, science, technology and education, according to the agreement.
Yang Wubiao, a standing member of the CPC Hangzhou committee and acting mayor of Hangzhou, and Yasutomo Suzuki, mayor of Hamamatsu, signed the agreement.
Xia Baolong, representing the government of Zhejiang Province, and Heita Kawakatsu, governor of Shizuoka Prefecture, witnessed the signing ceremony.
Hamamatsu of Shizuoka Prefecture is a famed industrial city, especially for the manufacture of musical instruments and motorcycles.
The signing of a friendship agreement between Hangzhou and Hamamatsu is part of a celebration to mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of friendly relations between Zhejiang Province and Shizuoka Prefecture. And it also coincides with the 40th anniversary of the normalization of Sino-Japanese ties.
