Hangzhou residents will join other major cities in China in welcoming an underground subway transportation network when the city's Metro Line 1 will finally be put into service.

A total of 600,000 free tickets have been handed out to residents for a four-day trial operation, starting tomorrow.

The subway will be open to ticket holders from 9am to 5pm from Sunday to Wednesday. Passengers need to pay attention to the scheduled time printed on their tickets to avoid huge crowds.

The metro operator is asking each commuter to take part in a survey after the free ride and suggestions are welcome.
