Hangzhou will carry out 10 major transportation projects, including a high-speed train station at Xiaoshan International Airport, according to the city's five-year transport infrastructure plan released yesterday.
The train station will connect Xiaoshan airport with the high-speed railway network in Zhejiang Province and make trips to Shaoxing, Taizhou, Huangshan and Shanghai much faster.
Xiaoshan airport authority also plans to build a third runway in 2022 and put it into service in 2025 at a cost of 6.6 billion yuan (US$973 million) as the airport is expected to receive 41.5 million travelers a year before 2021.
The Hangzhou Development and Reform Commission and the Hangzhou Transportation Bureau drew plan to make the city the largest transport hub south of the Yangtze Delta.
The 10 projects will involve a total investment of about 500 billion yuan and include the construction of Hangzhou South Railway Station and Jiangdong Railway Station.
